NC State men’s soccer assistant coach David Costa, who helped lead his summer club team to a national title, has received a 2008 NSCAA/adidas Regional Coach of the Year Award. He was one of four coaches honored by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America in the Youth Boys division.
Costa was selected as the Coach of the Year in the Midwest Region, after leading Carmel United to the 2008 U. S. Soccer Development Academy Finals Week U-15/16 Championship. His summer youth squad compiled a 25-2-7 record and was unbeaten in its final 20 matches.
The NC State soccer coach joined Tab Ramos of New Jersey Soccer Academy (East), Kevin Smith of Solar SC (South) and Don Ebert of Irvine Strikers (West) as finalists for the Youth Boys National Coach of the Year Award. Smith was selected for the national honor.
